Nursery- Mrs.Mulligan & Mrs. Frend
This past month the nursery school children have been learning about the season of spring. We are discussing how the flowers, trees, and grass grow and how we need the rain so that they can grow.
We also have begun a sea unit. The children are learning about sea creatures such as crabs and fish. They are learning how the fish live in the ocean. They have completed whale and fish painting projects and have been reading books about these under sea critters. The children have been learning and practicing all their songs for their moving up ceremony that will take place in June. At circle time the children have been introduced to simple mathematical concepts such as; grouping, adding, and taking away. This concept has been facilitated through projects as well as utilizing a felt board. Each child is invited to participate in hands on learning by counting felt animals and grouping them accordingly. The children are progressing very nicely with number recognition one through ten and are counting to 30! Each day, children are asked to trace their name, which helps build fine motor coordination and letter recognition. It is a pleasure teaching your children.
Fondly, Mrs. Mulligan & Mrs. Frend
