April showers hopefully will bring May flowers!  I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter and their time off.  I can;t believe it is April and around the corner will be June and another year completed.  This year flew by! We are all busy at work in math, reading, social studies and writing.  The lower grades are working on money. Recognition of the coins, how much they are worth and how to count on to get the total sum of all the coins.   Fourth grade is working on probability, we use coins, dice  and candy to help understand the concept. Fifthe grade is all about decimals.   In the lower grades we are working on reading short parageaphs and finding the main idea. We are also reviewing and practicing short and long vowel sounds.  Grammar is important too. Adjectives are what we we are working on now. I have seen such growth with a number of my students. It is always a wonderful feeling when a child's face lights up with the recognition of a concept!  It truly makes my day when I hear a student say ,"Now I understand Mrs. Martin"!  If you have any questionsabout your child, please don't hesitate to call me.
