A summer visit to NYC to see artwork the children learn about in art class, would be just right.

How about the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art)? There you will see "The Starry Night"  AND Claude Monet’s water lilies. Don't miss "The Three Musicians" and "Maya in a Sailor Suit" by Picasso. Perhaps you can pick up a poster or post cards of the famous paintings while there. Nearby is St. Patrick’s Cathedral and FOA Schwartz Toy Store. What a fun day it would be.

Just a bit north on 5th Avenue is the MET (Metropolitan Museum of Art). The Met is four blocks long with a wonderful Ancient Egyptian wing—mummies and a temple included! Ancient Egypt is just what the 6th grade learns about in Art and Social Studies. More Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, and Pablo Picasso  artwork can be seen here, also.
